In view of the current Covid 19 pandemic and in the interest of continuing the teaching, learning and evaluation process of the University, an urgent meeting was held in the P.D. Seminar Hall of the University under the Chairmanship of Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University
in which the Presidents and the General Secretaries of Gauhati University Teacher's Association, Assam College Principal's Council, Assam College Teacher's Association, and all the Heads of the Teaching
Departments of Gauhati University as well as the Registrar, Secretary, University Classes, and Controller of Examination and Executive Council members from amongst the Principals were present. The meeting discussed the safety and security of the students in particular in view of the ensuing examinations with particular focus as to how to avoid loss of academic session in response to the appeal made by the Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University. The meeting took into consideration the available feasibility and relevant provisions of the regulatory authorities in detail and took the following decisions.

(i) The meeting took into consideration the physical and mental agony of the students in view of
the current pandemic, and decided that all U.G and P.G. examinations of the University and
in its afiliated colleges are postponed for the time being.

(ii) The meeting discussed in detail about the nature of internet connectivity available to all
students (about 2.5 lakhs located in different remote areas as well and lack of suitable electronic gadgets like laptop, smart phones etc), and it is decided that these examinations will be held in the offline mode with 20 days prior notification after the situation reverts to normalcy.
(ii) It is also decided that all classes of all semesters will be started from the 1" week of May 2021 in the offline and online modes as per feasibility depending on local situations in different places/ institutions.

(iv) The meeting also discussed about the current situation and decided that if it persists, the decisions as mentioned above will be reviewed as per requirement.

(v) In the interest of the students in particular and all citizens of the state, the meeting appealed to everyone to take care of their physical and mental health.
